Handcrafted knife made with great attention to traditional craftsmanship and carefully selected materials. The handle is composed of stabilized poplar burl with vivid and deep grain patterns, combined with white mammoth ivory that creates a light and exclusive contrast to the warm structure of the wood. Between the materials are hand-filed inlays of engraving brass, carefully fitted by hand to create a harmonious and well-balanced overall appearance.
The knife is assembled without a through tang threaded rod. This construction requires a very high degree of precision during fitting and assembly, as all parts must fit perfectly together without the possibility of later adjustment. At the same time, it gives the knife a cleaner and more traditional appearance where the lines and transitions of the materials are clearly highlighted.
The blade is made from stainless Damascus steel produced by Damasteel. The Damascus pattern gives the steel depth and character, while the stainless properties and high quality of the steel make the knife suitable both as a working knife and as a collector’s piece. The lines of the blade are carefully matched to the organic shapes of the handle, creating a balanced and unified design.
The handcrafted sheath is made from hard-pressed leather and decorated with a carved dragon motif inspired by Viking Age ornamentation. The motif is carved directly into the leather with close attention to detail and historical design language, emphasizing the knife’s Nordic character. The hard-pressed leather also provides strength, durability, and a secure fit around the knife.
The knife was entered in Dansk Knivforenings Knivkonkurrence DM 2026 held at Knivholt Hovedgård, where it was awarded 3rd place among some of Denmark’s finest knife makers. The judging emphasized craftsmanship, choice of materials, finish, and the overall artistic expression.
